Something Greater for Everyone
Living connected to something greater than yourself is possible for everyone. Being connected and living in partnership with a non-material, harmonious and abundant ‘something’ is an exciting and creative life path.
This does not refer to any concept of traditional religion nor to a New-Age, airy-fairy belief system. All of life, including human beings, are connected to the greater web of life. No matter how much our materialistic society touts the superiority of the human brain – assuming all good and bad comes from it; only it is capable of running things; and consciousness is just another mechanistic function of the brain.
As a species, we are just beginning to understand how unlimited our possibilities are – how powerful consciousness is. We are only at the edge of understanding, and if you commit, you will move up a spiral of learning, knowing and understanding to become a greater human being and spirit. Once you have incorporated one level of knowing into your moment-to-moment being and awareness, you are open to learn yet more and so on.
It is a puzzle to me why some people would prefer to allow others – be they scientists or educators or influencers – to tell them who and what they should be and do. This is particularly concerning when we talk about the technological alteration of the human body in order to enhance physical or mental capabilities. I know in my deepest being that we have the human spirit to grow and evolve our bodies and our beings past anything that current human thinking can image.
Ever since my work began years ago as a professional organizer, I knew lasting, powerful change only occurs when a person finds their own way of understanding and doing something. Sure, there are similarities in how people complete tasks and accomplish goals.
However, society-at-large wants us to believe there are defined systems that we can apply from the outside with discipline, force and, maybe even, some coercion. Maybe that works for a while. Or maybe many people have to shut down their feelings and intuition in order to stay inside those systems, because they need to keep their job or placate family.
As we know, words today have been co-opted to mean whatever influencers want them to mean. It is difficult to speak of these connections and partnerships without being dragged into someone else’s idea of the box into which they put those words and concepts. I no longer engage conversations in which I must explain my deepest beliefs and my knowing.
Anyone can define their personal source of power and love by what they believe, what energizes them, and to which greater power concept they feel an instant deep connection. No matter how it is called, know that this source is inherently good, unlimited and giving.
For clarity, we can break the philosophies and belief systems into three categories.
Man alone
Subconscious; the mind; one’s attitude; the human spirit; our individual life force; feelings and emotions; imagination and creativity; common sense and instinct; exponential energy of a group working together in a common vision.
Science and Nature
Quantum physics; the laws of Nature; collective consciousness; a life force common to all; scientific principles; higher intelligence in Nature or in the Universe; alien influences; psychokinetic skills; collective intentions and focus.
Spirit/Faith/Life
Religion – all denominations; a Higher Power; Source; God; Spirit; The Divine; intuition; a deep inner knowing; the IS; the Universe; ancient teachings; the Light; a Benevolent Universe; Love; Infinite Intelligence
Even if you believe there is nothing but what can be seen and measured in this time and place, you are part of something greater than yourself through the flow of Life running through everything – just depends on how fast or slow their molecules move. There are laws of nature and a striving toward harmony and balance inherent in those laws. In Western societies, we have cut off this connection to the harm of ourselves personally and collectively.
Many philosophies, practices, and experiences confirm that we influence, if not control, the creation of our reality – the lives we are living. We begin with our connection to Something Greater, because the good we seek flows from this connection. When you are in doubt or need to recharge your commitment, you can return to the principles inherent in your Something Greater to give you strength and open you to the knowing you need to move forward.
